It’s a familiar formula in the postseason for the Los Osos Grizzlies Girls Soccer Team: Get the game to PK’s and let the chips fall where they may.

The formula worked again for the Grizzlies as they avenged a CIF Semifinal loss to Oaks Christian and won in PK’s to advance to the CIF State Regional Final.

The match was scoreless through regulation and one 15 minute OT period. That brought the game to be decided by PK’s.

Successful PK’s by Ariana Velasco, Natalie Kamper, and Haley Jenson and 3 blocked PK’s by goalkeeper Savanna Arruda proved to be the difference as the Grizzlies advanced to face CIF Champion Redondo Union on Saturday at 4:30 PM.

Awesome job Lady Grizzlies. You rock!!!

A penalty kick by Mia Casey and goals by Natalie Kamper and Kayla Winebarger helped the Grizzlies advance to the Regional Semifinals of the State Tournament. Los Osos eliminated El Camino Real by a score of 3-1.

The win sets up a rematch of the Grizzlies CIF semifinals with Oaks Christian. Game time is at 5 PM.

A controversial PK awarded to visiting Oaks Christian High School was the difference in Wednesday’s CIF semifinal match as the Grizzlies magical CIF run came to an end, 2-1.

The Grizzlies got on the board early from a corner kick and a perfect header by Natalie Kamper that put the Grizzlies up 1-0.

The score remained the same until 4 minutes left in regulation as Oaks Christian was able to even the score 1-1.

The match looked as if it was going to go to a second OT period until a controversial hand ball call inside the Grizzlies penalty box set up the winning score by Oaks Christian.

Although the Grizzlies CIF run has ended, they will be participating in the Division 2 State Playoffs starting next week.

Clutch penalty kicks and typical Savanna Arruda goalkeeping secured a Los Osos victory over visiting Tesoro High School on Saturday night at Grizzly Stadium. The win advances Los Osos on to the CIF Division 2 semifinals on Wednesday evening.

Down 1-0 as the first half was winding down, the Grizzlies evened the score from a goal by Stephanie Flores. The scored remained the same through the rest of regulation and two overtime periods.

Penalty kicks by Ariana Velasco, Haley Jenson, and Natalie Kamper and THREE saves by Savanna Arruda finally clinched the victory for the Grizzlies.

Los Osos will host Oaks Christian High School this Wednesday at 5 pm.
